Despite the current financial crisis, initial indications are pointing to solid growth rates for Australian Pay TV provider FOXTEL . In a announcement made by FOXTEL recently, the Australian subscription TV carrier stated that, notwithstanding the current economy fallout, subscribers and revenue continued to grow for the half year ending December 2008.
It appears that competition for viewer ratings over the likes of free-to-air networks is also being won by FOXTEL in respective subscription based homes. This is perhaps due to the current uptake of customer growth which now sits at 1,449,00 as at December 2009. This statistic is up 7% from the same period the year before.
Possibly another reason for FOXTEL’s impressive growth rate in these tough economic times may correspond to their continuous support and introduction of new TV content and features. Over the course of 2008 FOXTEL launched many new programs, channels and features that included the likes of High Definition Broadcasts, Fox Sports HD, ESPN HD, Discovery HD, Nat Geo HD, BBC HD and the FOXTEL iQ2 set top box.
