Electricity Second-Fastest Rising Expense (ABC Chart)

According to the ABC's "Chart of the Day" using statistics taken from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), electricity is the second fastest-rising household expense behind that of tobacco.

Electricity has risen by 117.4 percent since June 2008, while gas and other household fuels is in third place for the fastest-rising expense with an 89.2 percent increase.

Combined, electricity and gas is costing $49.11 per week according to the ABS.
