LG GR500f Xenon

Following in the path of several recent mobile phone offerings, LG's new GR500f also communally known as the LG Xenon combines the versatility of a touchscreen with the typing capabilities of a full 4 row QWERTY keyboard essentially giving you the best of both words at a very affordable price. Overall the handset is budget priced , yet very well made and rich with features, it might have a few minor problems but nevertheless this would have to be one of the best messaging phones currently available.

With a sleek exterior design available in blue, red or black, LG has created a compact stylish phone that the majority of people will certainly find appealing. Only 106x54x15.7 mm in size the LG Xenon would have to be one of the slimmest QWERTY slide mobile phones to date. The Xenon's 2.8" touchscreen slides up to reveal the full QWERTY keyboard, perfect for frequent texters and mobile e-mailers. The 4 row QWERTY keyboard is just about the perfect size, the keys are neither cramped nor too widely spread, very ergonomic and comfortable to use. The keyboard hosts a number of unique keys including a dedicated email key, text messaging and a web browser key which sure helps streamline common task.

We can’t help but praise the Xenon’s 2.8 inch touchscreen; in direct sunlight the Xenon’s display is wonderfully vivid and bright. The display quality is easily comparable to phones in a much higher price bracket and simply outshines the majority of players in its own field. Widget icons guide touchscreen navigation, providing speedy access to common functions, such as e-mail and contacts. As on the iPhone and other touchscreen devices, various widgets can be docked on the touchscreen desktop which allows for great customisation.

As with most smartphone and touch phones these days the empathise on only being highly proficient in one area such as business or multimedia simply does not cut it. The LG Xenon GR500f is no exception; it’s designed to try and cater to all your needs be it multimedia, communication or business. It performs reasonable adequately in all areas and surprisingly well for a budget phone , the handset call quality is generally static-free through both the earpiece and speakerphone , it has the ability to playback a large assortment of audio and video files through its easy-to-use players, and finally in the business department it has a reasonable assortment of useful apps to help with your business needs. Surprisingly though the LG Xenon only has 80MB of internal memory to be shared by your audio, images , video and office files. However, the Xenon comes with a microSD slot that allows the memory to be extended a further 16 GB. If you are an enthusiastic media user, we highly suggest that you invest in a card before you purchase the handset.

Ultimately, the LG Xenon is a value-for-money mobile device which appears to be aimed at the lower to middle end of the market. Rather than truly specializing in any single feature, the Xenon addresses a wide spectrum of functional features without the attached expense or over the top specifications, and still retains a fairly straight forward easy to use user-interface. For a phone user who wants access to many multimedia capabilities without requiring top end professional quality, the LG Xenon is a solid entry into an increasingly crowded market
