5 Things to Watch on Foxtel This Week (14/1/19)

Here are five things to watch on Foxtel this week, as we welcome back a hit TV show. 

1. True Detective, Season 3

The long-awaited third season of True Detective is here with a brand new thrilling crime case. Spanning across three different time periods, Arkansas detective Wayne Hays and his partner, Roland West, will investigate and try to solve the case of two children who disappeared. The time jumps will explore the crime investigation itself from 1980, with a major break in the case in 1990, and a retired Hays assisting a true-crime documentary with their own investigation into the cold case.

Academy Award-winner Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff stars as the two main detectives, Wayne Hays and Roland West, respectively. Known for playing Cyborg in DC's Cinematic Universe, Ray Fisher stars as Wayne's son, Henry. Carmen Ejogo plays an Arkansas teacher who is related to the case of the missing children and Scoot McNairy rounds out the main cast as Tom, a distraught father.

2. Valley of the Boom

Explore the rise of the Valley that has propelled this world into a new age of technological advancements like never before. Examine under the cover the Silicon Valley, discover new technology and see where new inventions are created and come to light. This is a fascinating 6-part DocuDrama that aims to true stories of the early tech start-up companies that helped build Silicon Valley into what it is today.

The main cast consists of: Bradley Whitford, who plays James L. Barksdale, CEO of Netscape, John Murphy and John Karna as Jim Clark and Marc Andreessen, developer of Mosaic and co-founders of Netscape; Oliver Cooper and Dakota Shapiro plays Todd Krizelman and Stephen Paternot, founders of; and Steve Zahn plays Michael Fenne, founder of Pixelon.

3. Venom

When journalist Eddie Brock gains superpowers after an encounter with an alien symbiote, he must reconcile his inner demons with Venom, the alien who threatens to kill the human within him.

Tom Hardy stars as the titular character, while Michelle Williams stars as his ex-fiance, Anne Weying. Riz Ahmed stars as the villain of the story, Carlton Drake and his alien symbiote, Riot.

4. Future Man

Josh Futturman, the lowly janitor is back for season two where he rejoins the two heroes from his favourite video game, Biotic Wars, with Tiger and Wolf. 

Josh Hutcherson stars as the Future Man, with Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson playing Tiger and Wolf respectively and Haley Joel Osment starring as Doctor Stu Camillo.

5. Isle of Dogs

Set in the dystopian future of Japan, Koyu Rankin is a young boy who is searching for his dog amidst a dog-banishment when the canine flu hits Japan. This is a stop-motion animated film brought to you by the brilliant and wacky mind of Wes Anderson.

Features an ensemble cast, including Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Harvey Keitel, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Live Schrieber and more!
